An Interview
I did an interview with a professor of mine quite some time ago for our faculty magazine. However, it was not published. Thus, I shall have it published in my blog. Hahaha.
This is my first time writing an interview and I do hope that I wrote well.
Just a short introduction of my professor.
PARK So Jeong received her doctorate in Chinese philosophy from Yonsei University (Seoul, Korea) in 2002, with a dissertation on Zhuangzi's philosophy of art. Her dissertation aims to clarify the aesthetic features of Chinese thought and to explore the Zhuangzi as a repository of the spiritual core of Chinese art. In her dissertation she argues that 1) Chinese thought best reveals its true characteristics when interpreted from an aesthetic perspective, and 2) musical thought plays a key role in the Chinese art history. In addition, she examines how traditional Chinese musical thought was developed in terms of emotion, harmony, and music, especially from the pre-Qin period through the Weijin period and to Tang dynasty.

今天的专访人物是来自韩国的朴素晶老师。这位去年才来到南大任教的韩国人究竟有什么值得我们深入访谈的呢？让我们今天一同窥探她得内心世界吧！
老师，谈谈你的教育背景好吗？
我是纯正的韩国产品。我毕业于韩国的延世大学的哲学系，副修中国文字。1999年，我在延世大学担任教师，然后2004年在韩国的建国大学担任讲义教授。2007年就来到了新加坡并在国大担任访问学者，去年才刚到南大。
为什么会来到新加坡呢？
其实，我的先生先来到了新加坡工作而我和我的两个孩子则留在韩国。2004年的时候，我把我的公公婆婆和我的孩子都送过来了。当时的我却还没有过来。那的时候，我每天人在韩国但是心却想着在新加坡的家人。我觉得这样没有家的感觉。所以在2007年，我也来到了新加坡。
身为一个韩国人，为什么会对中文感兴趣呢？
其实，我不是对中文有兴趣，是对思想有兴趣。更确切地说，我是对韩国的思想有兴趣。你们知道吗。。。朝鲜时代的韩国是没有自己的文字的。当时的韩国全都是借用汉文字直到了1440年，韩国才有了自己的文字。以前的文人以汉字写了很多的文章而很多的重要文献都是以汉文字记载。我觉得要先掌握中国思想才能把韩国思想学好，所以，我便开始学习汉语和汉文自了。我的最终目的还是韩国思想吧，虽然现在还在研究中。
朴老师，你之前在韩国担任教师，现在又在新加坡任教，那你认为新加坡和韩国的学生有什么不一样呢？新加坡的学生在那些方面需要进步呢?
哇！有点问题~！哈哈。我觉得新加坡的学生不太喜欢讨论或思考问题，也不太愿意提出自己的意见。他们都很喜欢“正确答案”，也常常问我他们的答案是否是正确答案。但是思想没有正确的答案，也不是这样学得的。思想必须要自己用心思去体会，才会有所领悟。有一次，我在讲堂课中问了大家对于某个思想有什么意见，结果所有的同学都很害羞，马上低下头。我想他们吓倒了。哈哈哈。所以，我这学期为了让同学们多发表自己的想法便在辅导课中让每一个人担任一个思想家的角色。如此一来，同学们才会提出自己的想法和参与讨论。我觉得这个方法很不错。同学都很积极地参与讨论，而且讨论的素质也很高。其实，我在这一部份说得太多了。哈哈。我其实很喜欢新加坡的学生，我觉得新加坡的学生很有礼貌也很用功。
你现在适应了新加坡的生活了吗？
适应了。我特别适应这里的天气。只是可惜的是新加坡没有四季，没有时间流逝的感觉。
刚刚到新加坡时，你是否有碰到让你不适应或讶异的事情或现象呢？
（朴老师沉思了许久）其实没什么特别的事。。。。只是之前很多韩国人都是通过旅游或新闻报道来认识新加坡。所以，他们都和我说新加坡的法律非常严厉，但是我来到新加坡后，发现很多人都乱过马路。哈哈。我觉得新加坡的法律没有他们所说得那么严厉。但是新加坡倒是如他们所说一样，比较干净。
老师，我们现在要问点比较私人的事情了。想请问你是怎么和你的先生开始在一起的？（朴老师马上大笑了起来）这个会出现在系刊里吗？！
会!
哈哈哈。我们两个人都是在延世大学就读。我的先生是物理学者。我们学的东西都是对赚钱没什么用的。哈哈哈~！然后，在上硕士班的时候，几位从哲学系和物理系的学生对一本叫Dao Of Physics的书 感兴趣。我们组成了一个读书会，来研究这本书。可能是太无聊了吧。。。。后来，所有的同学都离开这个读书会。。哈哈哈哈。。。最后只剩下我们两个。我们把这本书研究完后，我们就开始谈恋爱了。
那你先生是怎么和你求婚的？
他没有特别求婚。哈哈。我们没有你们想象中有如韩剧一般的求婚方式。我们拍拖了三年，当时的我们都觉得彼此是个可以托付终生的人。然后我的先生就到我家和我爸爸提亲。当时，我的父亲是不答应的！他第一句就问：“怎么可以相信你呢？” 然后，他们就开始喝酒了。哈哈哈。我的先生在来了我家几次后，我的家人也开始喜欢他了。之后，我们就结婚了。
现在回想起来，会为当时没有一个轰轰烈烈的求婚仪式而感到可惜吗？
不会。年轻的时候，我们都不知道自己要些什么。我现在年纪比较大了，也知道自己要的是什么。我要的不是一时的浪漫。我觉得天天浪漫和甜蜜地过着生活更重要。我的先生除了是我的老公外，他也是我孩子的爸，我的好朋友。
平时有什么休闲活动？会看韩剧吗？
我在韩国的时候，可以说从来没有开过电视。哈哈。我其实来到了新加坡后才开始看韩剧的。因为这里有KBS World，你们知道吗？ 我的妈妈喜欢看韩剧，所以现在每天7点，我们会全家人坐在电视机前看韩剧。
对未来有什么规划呢？
我对于现在的一切感到很开心。我既然会把我全家都带过来了新加坡，当然希望可以继续在这里发展。我们全家都很适应新加坡的生活了，尤其是我的小儿子，他就好像半个新加坡人！我相信我会继续在这里发展吧。
后记
一进到了朴老师的办公室，她便以她那招牌的亲切笑容来迎接我们。我们在用了简单的韩语互相问候后，朴老师便很客气地为我们倒茶，让我们有些受宠若惊。
访问结束后，我逗趣地和朴老师说可以换她问我问题了。结果，朴老师沉思了一会，便问了我是否听得懂她在课堂上所说的。朴老师对于教育工作的认真顿时让我有些感动。。。

About My Job
I am now having my summer break and I just received my results.
It's not too good but it wasn as bad as I thought it would be. However, my GPA still dropped drastically. Dont ask me about it.
Anyway, I have been working for some time since the start of my summer break and we sprang a birthday surprise on our boss!
We hid behind the shelves and sang her a birthday song the moment she stepped into the office. Haha.
I am working in a very small company. My boss dont really care about us. She just wants to see work being done. Thus, I am always late for work! Haha.
I am working in Education Incorporated. It's actually a education travel agency that organises educational tours for students. This year, we are organising Asian Youth Leader Convention (AYLC) and it's going to be held in SiChuan, China from 22th of July to 28th of July. AYLC is already in it's 4th year and has already attracted more than 1200 participants from across Asia, including participants from Japan, China, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Taiwan, Macau, Indonesia and India.
It's a major event and I will be travelling to China for the event.
Friends, I will be travelling to China on the 9th of July and I will only return on the 28th of July. That is a good 3 weeks. I will arrive in China 11 days before the start of the event! I know it's a little early but I need to be there as my boss suspects that our business partner is trying to ...... c-h-e-a-t o-u-r m-o-n-e-y!!!
Hahaha. Therefore, I am tasked to take charge of all the money when I arrived in China.
I was chosen because I am good with money!!!
Hahahaha.
I kept reminding my boss about our budget everyday till she thinks I really care about our company's expenditure.
Actually, that is because I dont receive a monthly pay. My colleagues and I all receive a "Project-based pay". That means that we will get a higher pay if the company makes more money from the event! Haha.
However, I love my company and my working environment! I can arrive late for work and have lunch for 1.5 hours and no one really cares as long as I finish my work! Hahaha.
Okay, it is a little too early to say that I love my company now. At least, I am happy at this very moment.
I just hope that everything will be fine!
