Last Day Of My Semester

Last Friday was the last day of my semester. Wow!! I need to prepare for my finals again!! This is crazy! I wonder why in Singapore, our semesters are really short!

Anyway, it was my last Korean class and I took a photo with my teacher. I truly enjoyed all my korean lessons. To be honest, Korean lessons were the only lessons which I could pay attention throughout the whole semester.

Decided to take a photo with my Korean teacher after the last lesson.

I think she really tries her very best to make our Korean lesson interesting. Cant you imagine teaching the same stuff for about 5 times a week! She probably takes more than 5 korean level 1 classes. Well, if you think that is boring, how about repeating everything every single semester. Seriously, that is so darn boring. That is why I really think that her work is seriously boring! Haha.
Anyway, I went to attend a seminar after my Korean lesson.

It was a seminar by Boo Jun Feng and my Prof. The aim of the seminar was to discuss about Boo's film Sandcastle which won him many awards from around the world.

If you dont know who Boo Jun Feng is, here is a little desription of him from Wikipedia.

Boo Junfeng (Chinese: 巫俊锋; pinyin: wū jùn fēng; born 4 December 1983) is a Singaporean filmmaker.
Boo is a graduate from the School of Film & Media Studies at Ngee Ann Polytechnic in 2003, and The Puttnam School of Film, LASALLE College of the Arts in 2009, where he was accorded the McNally Award for Excellence in the Arts – the valedictorian honour of the college.
His films, many of which show a preoccupation with places and historical and personal memory, have won prizes and acclaim and have been shown in film festivals around the world. Notable short films include Un Retrato De Familia (2004), Katong Fugue (2007), Keluar Baris (2008) and Tanjong Rhu (2009). His debut feature film Sandcastle (2010) was the first Singaporean film to be invited to theInternational Critics' Week at Cannes Film Festival.

I really think that Boo is a talented young man. He is brave to purse his dreams but I believe he comes from a rich family. Movie making doesn earn you much money in Singapore unless you are Jack Neo! Haha.

I used to have a lot of dreams when I was younger. However, it seems that I dont feel so strongly towards my dreams now. I dont seem to have the passion to write articles now! I used to know what I want to do in future but I am quite unsure about it now! Haha.

Okay, I am still left with a good 2 years to give some thought to it.

Bye! I need to study!

Updates soon!!

Hallyu

It has been a long time since I last updated my blog. School is just too busy and my life is just too boring.

Anyway, I got know a Korean friend through facebook. She is my language exchange friend. Today, my Korean friend invited me over to her home for dinner. Her parents came to Singapore to visit her sister and her. Thus, this explans my title for this entry. Hallyu refers to refers to the spread of South Korean culture around the world.

I bought a pandan cake for her parents because they are leaving Singapore tomorrow. I think pandan cakes are really good gifts as they are uniquely Singapore and they are rather nice. Hahha.

Fortunately, I am taking Korean classes in school now and my limited command of the Korean language came into good use because Minjung's parents dont know any English.

Anyway, Minjung was preparing dinner with her sister and mother when I arrived.

Pardon my poor camera skills. Haha. You can see Minjung's dad on the bottom left hand side on the photo.

The delicious home made Korean food that they prepared for me.

They were busy preparing dinner while I went off snapping photos of them! Hahha.

Seriously, the food was awesome!! I had a really sumptuous dinner.

I finally tried authentic Korean cuisine by Koreans!! My favourite food was Bulgogi. They also treated me to a ikan billis salad which was really appetizing. It taste somwhat similar to that which you can find in a Nasi Lemak stall. Minjung's mother told me that she will make me more of that when I go to Korea! Haha.

Trying my best to fit into a Korean family! Hahaha. Fortunately, I am fair enough. Koreans are so fair. I will probably look like a charcoal beside them if I am really tanned!

It's weird because Minjung is afterall not a Singaporean but she seem to be playing host to me instead. Haha.

Anyway, really wanna say a big thank you to Minjung and her family. They are really friendly and nice!!

I will try my best to improve my Korean. The next time her parents come, I hope that I will be able to have a conversation with them!!

I need to go to bed now! I have a presentation tomorrow! Bye!

Updates soon!

A Random Entry

This will be a random entry with random photos. Hahha.

A long overdue photo that I took during CNY with my friends.  Hahha.

Made a new Korean friend. Kim Min Joo from Korea. She is my language exchange friend.

Camwhored in my school's cafe.

Anyway, this is a really stupid video of me playing the piano. I got my friend to teach me how to play Yiruma's Kiss The Rain. Needless to say, I failed terribly! Haha. I only managed to learn the first few notes!!

My words can express how envious I am of those who can play the piano. I am really stupid when it comes to playing the musical instruments! I always love to sit by my friend and watch him/her play the piano while exclaiming about how great he/she is! Hahah. My right and left brain just cant function together. That's why I cant play musical instruments!

Anyway, this was the song I was trying to play! I love the melody!

Finally received my cheque from Nuffnang! Yay!! $$$$

Photo taken during Shulan's birthday party. Credits to ZhuanWei!!

Anyway, Ah Kit joined a singing competition in HK. I think he sang really well!!

I hope he gets through the first round!!!

I am leading a boring life ever since I came back to Singapore......

I cant wait to travel soon!!

こにちわ Part 2

On the second day, I went to look for my Japanese friends after my tuition.

Accompanied them to Arab street where we visited a Mosque.

Learning more about Islam and Muslims through the Japanese explanations.

The carpeted floor.

Sit on the carpets on the Mosque and I ask my friends to sit down for a HTHT talk. Hahha. Taught them the term HTHT too.

I taught them some Malay too. They now know Terima Kasih.

After visiting the Mosque, they went around shopping Arab street and I made them try Teh Tarik.

Naoto queuing up for it.

They love the drink!!!

Went to Haji lane because they wanted to visit some special cafes and sit down for some cakes and coffees.

I think they love Haji lane much more than Bugis!

They think that Haji lane is really beautiful. Got them to take photos along the lane.

We got someone to take a group photo for us and these 2 Caucasians came out of nowhere and joined us in our photo.

After taking the photos, we went to a cafe to rest our legs. Didn took any photos because I was seriously too tired!

Food Appreciation Time -- Roti Prata and Hainanese Chicken Rice

I went around sourcing for food for them again!! Haha. Wanted to try more local food because I think that is probably the most interesting thing about Singapore. Before they had Roti Prata, they actually had Hokkien Mee. Naoto wanted them to try the noodles too because he thinks that the noodles are really tasty and he didn want them to miss out on that.

My Japanese friends seem to love our local food so much!! They love the curry and the prate.

And their verdict.....

They think that Hokkien Mee is the best! Hahha.

Wanted to let them try Bah Kut Teh too but they were in a rush for time!

Brought them to the esplanade.

It is a must to see the Merlion in Singapore and thus, we were in the Merlion park! Haha. Once again, I didn take any more photos because my camera cant take nice night shots!!

Last but not least, we took a last photo together before they head back to their hotel to pack their luggages.

My Japanese friends are only in Singapore for 2 days and I hope they really enjoyed their stay in Singapore.

The Singapore Tourism Board should pay me some money man!!! I have been actively promoting Singapore to my overseas friends!!!

How I wish I can visit Naoto in Japan soon!!! I just cant find a good time to visit Japan because I dont wish to visit Japan in summer. I will prefer visiting in autumn or winter. I believe there will be more on offer during these 2 seasons. Summer will be boring!! I will probably love summer more because I can do more shopping! I hope to visit Japan in Oct which means that it will be autumn! Autumn is seriously the best time to visit a country because it's neither too warm or cold. However, I will be in the midst of my semester during that time. I can probably do something with my mid term break! Hahha. Winter will be too cold!! I dont wish to freeze to death!

For now, I guess I will have to earn more money and save them all up for my travelling!!!

こにちわ Part 1

After sending away my Taiwanese friends, my Japanese friends came to Singapore too.

I was really touched by Naoto because his friends had initially not want to come to Singapore but he told them that he dont mind coming to Singapore alone. That is because he has longed wanted to visit Singapore and me. In the end, his friends agreed to come to Singapore with him!!

Met Naoto and his friend, Yuko at Chinatown.

Naoto and his friends, Shun, Yuko and Naoko.

Asked Zhixian to tag along because she also knew Naoto.

I brought them to Bugis to shop!! I suddenly found out that Singapore is really boring and there is nowhere to go!! Haha. I brought both my Taiwanese and Japanese friends to Bugis. Haha.

And none of them bought anything! HAHAH.

Zhixian accompanied the girls around while I accompanied the guys around.

Food Appreciation Time---Otah and Onei Onei

They love the food!! Hahaha.

Met a kind salesman who took a photo for us!!

Shopped till the evening and Zhixian had to leave!

The girls bought a gift for her.

Reminded me of the old times when I was in China participating in the Chinese Bridge Competition.

Food Appreciation Time --- Curry puff

Shun love the curry puffs so so much that he bought extra 2 currypuffs after he finished the one i bought him. Haha. After shopping, Naoto's friends went to the night safari while Naoto and I went around ourselves.

That is because he thinks that the night safari is boring too. Hahha.

Food Appreciation Time --- Hokkien Mee

He really enjoys the noodles alot!!!!

Last but not least, a dessert to end off our dinner.

Went Clarke Quay after having our dinner and Naoto finds the scenary really beautiful!!

Didn take many photos after that because my camera just cant take nice night shots.

Decided to just enjoy the sea breeze and talk to Naoto.

I am seriously glad that Naoto is really supportive of me. Hahha. Shall not elaborate further but I just hope that I will be able to visit him in Japan soon.
